[The Great (Charles) Blondin]( was a French Tightrope Artist in the mid-1800s who was the first person to cross Niagara Falls on a tightrope.

He then went on to re-accomplish the feat in a variety of different ways, blindfolded, in a sack, [pushing a wheelbarrow](, on stilts, cooking an omelette midway along the rope and standing on a chair with only one chair leg on the rope.
